Membership Grades

  • Affiliate Member
    The grade of Affiliate is open to any person who has an interest in local governance and yet may not have the requirement to apply for one of our higher grades. It also includes students who have enrolled at the Institute of Local Government Studies (ILGS) or on any other International Professional Programs directly related to Local Governance.

 

  • Associate  (ACLG)
    • First Degree with 5 years of work experience in the local governance sector or local government administration

    • Second Degree with 3 years of experience in the local governance sector or local government administration

    • Doctorate Degreewith 2 years of experience in the local governance sector or local government administration

    • Chartered member of a different professional body with 3 years of work experience in the local governance sector or local government administration

 

  • Full Member 

    • First Degree with 8 years of work experience in the local governance sector or local government administration

    • Second Degree with 5 years of work experience in the local governance sector or local government administration

    • Doctorate Degreewith 3 years of experience in the local governance sector or local government administration

    • Chartered member of a different professional body with 5 years of work experience in the local governance sector or local government administration

 

  • Fellow (FCLG)
    • Second Degree with 15 years of work experience in the local governance sector or local government administration

    • Doctorate Degreewith 8 years of experience in the local governance sector or local government administration

    • Fellow of a different professional body with 8 years of work experience in the local governance sector or local government administration

 

  • Honorary Fellow)
    Honorary Fellows will be awarded to persons who have distinguished themselves in Ghana’s Decentralisation drive and/or have made a significant contribution to deepen democratic tenets at the local level. Honorary Fellows are appointed by the Executive and approved by the General Assembly at its Annual General Meetings purely for the Honorific Category.       

                                          

  • As you progress through your career, acquiring new skills, qualifications and experience, you will become eligible for higher grades of ChaLoG’s Membership. Upgrading Membership recognizes the additional skills and experience you have acquired and provides employers evidence of your commitment to your career. If you have achieved higher qualification since you joined ChaLoG, you may be eligible to upgrade your membership.


       Requirement for Membership Upgrade

  • From an Affiliate to Associate
    An Affiliate Member must meet the requirement for an Associate Membership Grade

  • From Associate Member to Full Member
    An Associate Member must have attended a cumulative of 20 Days Continues Professional Development Programmes organized by ChaLoG or any other accredited Institution affiliated to ChaLoG.

  • From Full Member to Fellow
    A Full Member have attended a cumulative of 40 Days Continues Professional Development Programmes organized by ChaLoG or from any other accredited Institution affiliated to ChaLoG.

  • A Full Member must have at least one publication in the 40 Days credit to qualify him for the upgrade

  • Addition to the above, the member must have facilitated at least, four seminars.
