ChaLoG is a duly registered Decentralisation and Local Governance Think Tank that works to develop and strengthen the institutional, financial and human resource capacities of local government institutions, with the aim to achieve effective decentralization and poverty reduction through improved service delivery and governance reforms (integrity and anti-corruption), thereby improving the conditions of living of the people.

ChaLoG unifies and creates a common platform for countries within Africa that are fully or partially practicing decentralization through local government institutions, as well making a strong case for countries that have not fully adopted Decentralisation as a way of devolving power to the Local Authorities to carefully consider the merits of having a fully functional local government system and adopt it.

2nd Annual Professor

Kwamena Ahwoi Lectures

on Decentralization

Chamber for Local Governance (ChaLoG) successfully rolled out one of its flagship programmes “THE PROFESSOR KWAMENA AHWOI ANNUAL LECTURES ON DECENTRALISATION’’ on 17th October, 2024. The Annual Public Lectures have been instituted for the month of October every year with the objective of assessing the progress Ghana is making in the implementation of its policy on decentralization, local governance and local development.

Summit (LGSDS-2026)

The main objective of the Summit is to strengthen the institutional capacities of local governments to refocus on Entrepreneurial Thinking leading to increased Local Economic Development (LED,) for Sustainable Human Capital and Community Development.
